We originally wanted to modify the now existing draw_text functions with an extra parameter that could rotate the rendered text by multiples of 90 degress.

This feature would've allowed for a dynamic rearrangement of the screen elements when the module is rotated in the setup.

Because of time constraints we did not update the draw API for the VSN1 release from its summer version, so there is still no way to rotate text.

This is something that's still in the pipeline, but we have prioritized other features for now.

Dynamic rearrangement of all other elements on the screen is possible by implementing the module_rotation() functions into the rendering pipeline, but I guess without the access to rotating text it's kind of a pointless venture at the moment.

Now the upcoming features are:

• implement 900 char code limit
• improve overall communication speed

These will go into QA next week. After that I'll get back to you.

The draw API does need some love, but don't want to promise a timeline we can't keep.

Hello, I wanted to revist this question, as it's been a few months and the new 900 character limit firmware has been released. Are there any updates on the timeline for getting the option to flip the screen to different positions? I am assuming not, but there isn't a way to just manually flip the screen by taking it apart and rotating it 180 degrees, is there?

Yes, the update has been released now finally. This opens up devtime to other things, like this feature.

Currently that devtime is going into housekeeping and stability. Features come after that. A FW devcyle is usually a couple of months, but features like this can be pushed fairly quickly when ready.

But for now I have nothing more to share as we're winding down for holiday season.
