Is there a way to have a button(s) module to store/recall a snapshot of a say an encoder grid module (or any other, really)?

You mean the complete state of encoders when you say 'snapshot' correct?
In that case, right now that's only possible for a session as Grid forgets saved variables between power cycles and it cannot write it's own configuration file by itself to save changes into permanent memory.
So for example it would be possible to save states of a live set during that live set. To revert from a buildup (think elektron style fn+no).
But it's impossible to save patches of a synth to Grid and to then recall them later.
We're working on Grid being able to write its own persistent memory (without Editor) but no concrete date for that feature yet.
oh yeah a session is fine!
exactly - like fnc no and or 1 click automation in a daw
what docs/areas should i look at for both these scenarios?
16 buttons to <> encoder module - change encoders, snapshot their state with button long press ( up to 16 times or whatever) - recall up to 16 states with a short button presses
^ i suppose i could replace the buttons all together and use the encoder presses to the same effect? ha wow
That's easier to do, yes.
For a two module setup you would have to use the new immediate send function.
Which is not even documented yet.
Because I'm not 100% sure how to tell you to use it yet.
But it's basically a function that tells a module to do something.
And that something could be to save the encoder states.
I would call this a very advanced config though.
have you guys thought of a LLM / GPT to help users code?
Chat GPT is how i roll lol
it could be tuned for this controller insanity to help guide users
ur smarter than me 🙂
We tried it.
It didn't work out.
But for the state recall on the EN16.
You could take a look at the 64CTRL profile in the cloud
It has 4 banks of independent 16 encoders and you can switch between them with pressing the top buttons.
You could use it as 4 snapshots of 16 parameters you're switching inbetween.
Only thing it's missing for that is to send out the MIDI values of the encoder when switching.
I could cook that up in like 5 mins.
holy moly!! my excitement builds!! I can't wait to test this out!!
