Short vs long faders?

Lisette · · 2 replies

How does the sporter or longer faders campare? Eg. EF44 (long) vs PBF4 (short)

Are both 7 bit? (0-127). Maybe either is more than enough.

I am after an analogous continues feeling and plan to map left one to master volume and the other three to EQ-bands. Currently leaning towards the longer ones. Although the velocity sensitive Buttons sounds like a fun extra gift (but unsure what I would do with them)

Maybe the short ones are precise enough ones you got used to them. Just like eventually raising precision on your new trackball or mice when you get used to it?

PS. I am not a music creator/producer (yet), just want to control the music I listen to to fit my mood and current abilities to tolerate different amount of loudness on different frequencies.

Both can send 7-bit MIDI (0–127) (and also 14-bit MIDI if you want higher resolution)

The EF44 gives a more precise feeling thanks to the longer faders, so it’s great for things like master volume and EQ.

The PBF4 is more fun because of the velocity-sensitive buttons, which could be useful later (e.g., recording some drums)
