Hi all, new to grid and wanted to use the Hi Resolution Encoder preset in the cloud presets for adjusting tempo for a live set in Ableton but need to avoid value jumps. Is there an easy way to make it relative rather than absolute? When i just edit the encoder settings in the preset to relative it doesn't work out. I have no coding knowledge at all so wondering if anyone can help. Thanks!
Relative Hi Res Encoder?

High resolution only really works in Absolute mode, this is why just switching to relative mode doesn't do the job.
There are two settings you can map in Ableton, a coarse tempo and a fine tempo adjust. You could map two encoders to these in relative mode and control them that way, without using high resolution MIDI.
This way you could retain accurate control over tempo and still use relative encoders and so you'll avoid data jumps.
You could also limit the range of the coarse tempo mapping increasing the sensitivity of the encoder (by default it's 999, but I don't really use anything over 200 ever).
If you don't want to use two different encoders to set the tempo, you could even use the press and turn method described here for fine adjust.
Hope this proves useful!
I thought this might be the case, this makes more sense now. Thanks so much for the explanation I found it really helpful!
