Pro Tools Compatibility?

Hey guys, having a hard time finding the answer on google, but is the PBF4 compatible with Pro Tools?

If so, how do I go about setting it up for something like volume automation? I'm not sure how to do it but I'm currently trying to set it up as an HUI and getting this error message

Hi, We have a fader profile for Portools HUI. To access it, search for "HUI volume fader" and "HUI system element" in the Profile Cloud. Once you find them, simply upload both to your module.

Ahhhh thank you so so much. Should I google the profile cloud or is there a link somewhere?

Greg-Orca Greg-Orca ·

Profile Cloud is inside the Grid Editor, you can download it from intech.studio

seannyd seannyd ·

You're the best thank you. I'll check it out

Hey, just downloaded the grid editor and found/uploaded those profiles, but still getting the same Pro Tools error message

seannyd seannyd ·

Could someone help? Not sure what's going on

Greg-Orca Greg-Orca ·

Just ignore it, click don’t show again

ok thats interesting, I see something different on my end:

it says intech grid midi device instead of just grid, I wonder if that has something to do with it?

it doesn't seem to be able to control anything atm

Greg-Orca Greg-Orca ·

Yes that good, did you select grid in Send To ?

seannyd seannyd ·

Yea I put the grid device for 'Receive From' and 'Send To' and keep getting communication errors. I'll close out the error box and get spammed with the same message every 10s or so. Moving my faders/pots doesn't appear to do anything

Greg-Orca Greg-Orca ·

Use the checkbox labeled 'Don't show again' to prevent this message

Greg-Orca Greg-Orca ·

Upload again "HUI volume fader" just to the first fader and Store it, then check again if the first fader are working

seannyd seannyd ·

You saved my life thank you, i didnt think checking that box would fix anything. After unchecking the boxes the faders are working great for volume

Continuing this thread just for general Pro Tools inquiry, is there a way to visually see what banks are currently selected?

somesounds somesounds ·

In addition to the above question, is it possible to set just one of the faders to be a HUI audio fader controller, and the other three to send MIDI CCs?

Greg-Orca Greg-Orca ·

@user visually see on the module?

seannyd seannyd ·

In Pro Tools, I haven't noticed anything indicating which track my faders are currently affecting. Especially with L/R banking

Greg-Orca Greg-Orca ·

yes, just upload the HUI volume fader profile to the first fader, other faders sends cc out of the box

Greg-Orca Greg-Orca ·

@user the blue frame shows which faders are you at

perfect, thanks! judging by that screenshot, it looks like the Pro Tools HUI protocol doesn't let you officially just control 1 track, huh? minimum of a bank of 8, and we're just ignoring the other 7?

Greg-Orca Greg-Orca ·

HUI is designed for 8 channels, if you want to use only one fader to control volume then assign Track Select to easily offset it to the desired channel

Having issues where the volume faders will automatically start writing even if I'm not moving them. Is this a known issue?

Greg-Orca Greg-Orca ·

How frequently do you see the issue, and do all the faders behave this way, or just specific ones?

seannyd seannyd ·

Seems to happen everytime with all 4 faders. My workaround is to switch to an empty layout to avoid writing over my automations, but not ideal of course

Greg-Orca Greg-Orca ·

updated the hui volume fader profile

Greg-Orca Greg-Orca ·

please upload it to the faders and check again
