I'm looking for a small midi-fader solution for our keyboard-player's XR12 submixer. (Which doesn't have any physical faders).
Is it possible to configure the Faders once and then run the PBF4 standalone via a USB-C > Midi adapter?
PBF4 as standalone midi-controller?

Hi. Yes, once you configure a module the configurations are stored on the module's 4 pages.
Sounds good.
Can you suggest me an adapter that would work? (I guess that the PBF4 needs power then, right? )
The modules have a single USB-C port, no batteries, so yeah they'll need some sort of power.
I don't know about any reliable USB-C -> MIDI dongle. What I suggest to use is either our own Knot USB MIDI Host, or one from DoreMIDI or Kenton.

Also looking at the XR12 it seems to have a USB-A port. Can that be used for USB MIDI by any chance?
unfortunately the USB A Port is only used for audio recording/playback.
But the Knot looks perfect to me.
So the setup would be:
PBF4 > Knot (via a USB-C cable)
Knot Midi Out > XR12 Midi In
Knot DC (for power)
Right?
- is the TRS Midi adapter included?
Not included, but have it on stock.
Yes, this is the flow!
Perfect.
I'll talk to my keyboard player and order it =)
Thank you so much!
@user can also power by USB (phone charger, or like an Anker USB battery) if that helps!
Admittedly hacky, but I've even managed to use Grid controllers wirelessly with a CME WIDI uHost with a USB battery powering it and the grid on one end, and a CME WIDI Jack connected to a Retrokits rk-006 which acts as my central midi brain. The Knot is much cleaner solution 🙂
