module recognized but not responding

The EF44 stopped responding. The PBF4 still sent MIDI but the EF44 didn't. The grid editor saw the EF44 hooked up but moving controls did nothing. I unplugged the EFF44 and plugged it backin. Grid saw it but still did nothing with any element movement. After I had 'added/saved' my configurations I closed the grid editor and unplugged the EF44. After restarting the editor and replugging the EF44 it responded again. Is there a less disruptive way to get a module online. The EF44 did not stop working as a result of a change in the configuration, it just stopped.

You might be experiencing something entirely different than I, but I have seen something like this on a flaky module, one which is in the process of being replaced. Just as a diagnosis suggestion, does it make a difference where the two modules are connected to one another? You could try spinning each of them every which way, connecting various combinations of edges, there are lots of combinations. You could also try variations of which one is connected to USB.

You might be able to find particular combinations that work or don’t work. And that might be helpful to the Intech folks.

good suggestions. being a newbie I was hoping that it was a transient 'confused module' state that could be addressed by something like a 'warm boot' command. I will try all of these if it becomes chronic. I use a lot of USB devices and finding the magic combination of USB2|3|hub|nothub can be challenging.

We recommend using a direct connection for Grid because the OS might sleep one or more of the ports Grid is communicating on when the connection relies on a USB hub.
