Hello, I plan to buy the PBF4 to put on my bass guitar, to remote control Ableton Live and my VJ software with MIDI.
Is that length of cable ok?

Hi, For USB-C to USB-A cables, a maximum length of 3-5 meters is generally recommended, while USB-C to USB-C cables can typically work well up to 2-4 meters. However, shorter cables are always preferable for better performance and lower latency, especially when connecting MIDI controllers to Ableton. If longer distances are required, consider using active USB extenders
Thank you! I just ordered the PBF4 with a 5m USB cable, I will see what happens...
works fine!
I add this question to this topic as it´s somewhat related:
I´ve noticed that some USB cables won´t work at all and some just power up the unit but won´t send any data. USB-C to USB-C cables especially seems to be all over the place these days. Do you think that they affect MIDI transfer speeds, data rates, resolution and such, or are they more like they either work fine or not at all? And are there any differencies between C to C and C to A?
Figure out which of your cables are merely “charging cables”, get rid of them, and purchase some decent proper cables if you don’t have enough kicking around.
As for C to C versus A to C, there won’t be any difference to a Grid module or set thereof. Either will carry enough power and have more than enough bandwidth.
