I want to have my endless encoder permanently mapped to Macro 1 of a Device - eg 1st control in the Unify Device, in the screenshot, called L1-Perc. That bit I have working.
Now I want to have the name of that macro (L1-Perc in the example), display on my Intech controller (ie where ti currently says Endless8). As I change the preset in the Ableton Unify Device, and the name of the Macro 1 changes, I want that to update on the Intech Screen.
Is this possible? Can someone point me to some resources that will assist in setting it up ....if it's possible.
How to pull Ableton Live macro name into Intech Controller

May be doable with the in-the-works abletonjs package. But I'll need to make some adjustments there. Anything else to add here?
The only thing to add (at this stage😎 ) would be the Receiving back of midi from the mapped parameter. I will add a new post for that as you suggested in the other post I hi-jacked.
As you mention "change preset on unify", will the first parameter there change to something else?
How do you change preset on Unify?
The only issue I see is that how is Ableton (specifically the underlying integration) be alerted that the preset has been changed and a new macro 1 value is present
I change the preset on Unify by sending a Program Change through Ableton: Midi Bank, Sub Bank and Program. Because the 1st 8 macro devices for Unify are mapped to the 1st 8 Macro knobs of Unify, these will change to reflect the internal mapping of Unify. Currently on my Push3 controller, then I have Unify selected, the 8 Macro knobs will have the same name as the 8 macros in Unify, when I change the preset, these 8 knobs names update to reflect the names of the 8 macros in Unify (and permanently mapped to the 1st 8 in Ableton)
I have been reading through the guides - is that the best place for me to start? I find I have many questions arising from reading those guides, should I post those here? or start a new questions thread with the questions?
