How many steps will the new metal-shafted encoders have?

IIRC the current encoders are 24-step. How many steps will the new clicky and smooth encoders have?

The metal encoders planned for EN16 and EF44 (smooth and detent variants) will have 20 steps around the clock.

Darn, that’s too bad. 24 is already too few, IMO, especially when they are inclined toward occasionally stepping in the wrong direction. Thanks for the details, though!

The stepping back is fixed on the nightly firmware. We did not release a new firmware version, but lots of things have been fixed since last September. I heard that it will be released in two weeks.

Nice. That’ll definitely be appreciated

Good to hear! I was running into that as well and thought it was due to a faulty hardware unit.

@user does this also include the EN16?

kkerti kkerti ·

Specifically what?

schickling schickling ·

The upcoming firmware addressing that when turning the encoder into a new "click position", sometimes the value "jumps back".

Yes, that's for all units using encoders.

Nice! Looking forward to that!
