AnalogRytm + Grid

Hello all. First time poster, long time lurker. About to pull the trig on a 6-8 grid setup with knot. Sort of a ‘breakout box’ for the rytm. Slimming the live setup to less boxes, more control.

I suppose the questions are more:
A) am I crazy (more rhetorical I suppose)
B) potential issues/battles I may face, or very straight forward in set/config/use (yeah, I’ve been in research mode for a while now)
C) any advice in regards to potentiometers vs encoders (I’m flip-flopping. Learning more towards potentiometers, but am I not seeing the light re:encoders?)
D) is the fact the is no ‘bugs’ channel here mean it’s 100% or is it just not wanting to discuss openly? (eg the Torso Electronics discord has bugs threads for both the T1 and S4, as a user and/or potential user, it’s nice to comb through the topics to see what’s real vs people didn’t RTFM 🙂)

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

FWIW, the midi control search has been a long one. I’ve always loved the idea/concept of the Intech products. Not enough control? Add more. Too much control? Leave a grid at home. Haha. Love it.

Example of case-use: picked up a MiniLab3 to test some ideas. Worked well (also cheap). Proof of concept. Could use more 😁

Hi!

Thank you for reaching out. Here are the answers to your questions:

A) It's not crazy at all to want to optimize your live setup for better control and fewer boxes. Ensure you have a clear plan for how each grid will be used and configured.

B)

  • Learning Curve: Any new gear comes with a learning curve. Take the time to familiarize yourself with the Grid and its integration with your Rytm and other devices.
  • Configuration Complexity: You can configure Grids with our Grid Editor. Changing CC messages and similar editing is straightforward. For more complex tasks like automations, sending midi LFO, you'll need to invest some time, but we're here to help anytime.
You can try out our Grid Editor with virtual modules! https://grid-editor-web.web.app/

C) I would choose the potentiometers for live performances. They provide a direct, immediate response and are more intuitive for live performances.

D) Our software is open source, and we maintain a fully open repository of development on GitHub https://github.com/intechstudio accessible to everyone. You can find all bug reports and feature requests there. When a bug is reported, either here or privately through support, we test it. If the bug is confirmed, we create a new issue in the repository. This transparent approach ensures that all users can see the current status of issues and developments, contributing to a collaborative and open community.

Like your live performance; it's really nice and cohesive. Thanks for sharing the link with us. Let me know if you have any questions
